Hello!
I'm back in the blog world!
It's been so long since I've blogged, I've never been away so long
I really missed catching up with all my favourite blogs!
I had a little time out for a few reasons
One of them being a problem with my left eye
One morning I woke up with a blur in my eye, and over the day it seemed to get worse
Then I started to get black 'floaters'
I was so worried as I'd never had them before
I put it down to sewing too much (I had a big job on at the time), or being on the computer too much
It went on a few days and I was starting to get worried
I called my optician and explained and they said I should go straight to Moorfields Eye Hospital
Arghhh!!
They said they were worried it could be a detached retina
I was so worried and tried to play it down
'Oh, I'm sure it'll be fine. I'll make an appointment next week'
But the optician was adamant
'Claire, you really need to go to the hospital'
Gulp
People, don't google illnesses
You will FREAK out!
But when I read online that retinal detachment can lead to permanently losing your vision I couldn't get to the tube fast enough!
After a long wait and a lot of tests the doctor told me I didn't have it
Without using medical jargon
Basically, they froze my eyeball to put a camera against it and then had to dilate my pupil before they could do the tests
Gross
I could hardly see and felt so strange
The drops they used were bright yellow
So you can imagine I wasn't looking too attractive
I made Paul take a phone pic so I could see later what I looked like

Oh yeah, I think it's safe to say I'm not bringing 'sexy back'
Apparently the doctor thought I had a blocked oil gland (attractive, huh?)
And floaters are common in short sighted people as you get older
(Thanks for that Doctor!)
I had to use drops and do eye massage techniques and now I'm on the mend
I can joke about it now, but I was so scared and very weepy
I've always been so terrified of anything happening to my eyes
But I have to say, the people at the Hospital were fantastic
The first man who 'froze' my eyeballs just tried to make me laugh the whole time
He was so nice and patient, even when I kept closing my eyes when he tried to put the drops in
(I can't help it, I hate them)
