Random Acts of Kindness

Yesterday I noticed someone I follow on twitter had been posting about good deeds and I mentioned a book to her I've had for a while
'Random acts Of Kindness' by Danny Wallace
I bought it in a charity shop a few years ago
It's a really lovely book, filled with lots of little ideas to make the world a nicer place
I truly do believe however small, little acts of kindness can make a huge difference to a persons day

The book actually says after you've read it to pass it onto someone else, so I'm sending it to the tweeter!
Here is her blog

Here are a few things I always try to do

If I see a old lady/man struggling in a supermarket I ask if they need help

Also in the supermarket, if someone is behind me in the queue with a few items I tell them to go in front of me (people always seem shocked when you do this)

If I see a homeless person with a dog I'll nip into a shop to buy the dog a treat

Hold doors open for people

Always give up my seat for someone that needs it more than me

Something I used to do, but haven't for ages (I don't know why) is leave 20p in a phone box

Buy birdseed and sprinkle it in my local woods

I'm sure there's more, but I can't think right now
But little things like this can really improve someones day with hardly any effort from you

I just thought I'd share a few of the ideas from the book

Strike up a conversation with an old man on a bench

Hide a complimentary note in a book in the library

Share your umbrella with someone during a downpour

Offer to swap seats on the bus or train so two friends can sit next to each other

Help an old man across the road

Remember
No act of kindness, however small, is ever wasted - Aesop

  2. Our elders did all this naturally. Thank you for reminding us the way we should be. Good maners are never old fashion.
